Adding new things to a map w/ Insolence and Entity
1. Decide what you want to place on your map. For this tutorial, i will use fire. I'm going to take the shotgun that spawns bottom middle on Midship and change it to fire.
2. So first you have to import what ever you want to put on your map with Insolence, unless what you want is already on your map. So just open Insolence, open your two maps, and drag whatever it is you want to put into your modded map. For this tutorial, Im doing fire so i would open elongation, find the tag labeled
effects\scenery\fires\fire_basic_large
and then simply drag it over to the other map, in my case midship.
You'll see something like this, except that it wont JUST say what this says, it'll say more things, and it'll be different for each item.
There is also basic_medium and basic_small for medium and small fires, but Im going to use large. So once thats done, close Insolence.
3. Open your version of Entity (Make sure its not 1.1.7 Beta version.) Open your map.
4. now, go to the ITMC tag, and click on any tag, and i mean any tag, it doesnt matter in the least, and right click it and click "Duplicate". In a few seconds, it should say done. If it doesnt just go back to the itmc tag and check if the duplicated tag is there. For this tutorial, im going to duplicate the battle rifle.
5. Now, go into that duplicated ITMC tag (Battle Rifle in my case) , and hit
Display -> Idents
Then, go to the only item shown, right click it, and select swap. You should see a window like this-
Find the item you want to add to your map (The item you may have imported into Insolence, depending if your item was already on the map or not.) , the fire in my case. You may have to change the tags for BOTH the little box and the big box. (In the picture above, i didnt change the fire thing yet...)
Then hit swap.
6. Now, go to the SCNR tag. Right click anywhere in the list, and hit
Display -> Idents
7. Now scroll a little bit down until you find all the collection tabs. There should be quite a few. Each collection tab corresponds with an item on the map, such as weapons and grenades. Select the item you want to replace on your map, in my case the shotgun. Right click it and hit swap as we did before. Now, staying in the ITMC tag, select the item you duplicated before (the battle rifle tag in my case). Hit swap.
8. Now, you should have the fire in place of the shotgun in my case. If you would like to move the fire around, then you would have to go the SBSP tag and click
scenarios\multi\midship\midship (or whatever the name of your map is) and then go to either-
*Tools -> Raw editor
-or-
*The blue medical button -> View BSP. Both are the same.
^^You will only have one or the other. It depends on the Entity version. Version 1.1.7's BSP viewer is corrupted.
9. Then, in the BSP viewer, wait for it to load, and then hit
Visible Spawns -> Collection
10. In the BSP Viewer you should now see the map. (When you first open the viewer, you should be under the map, so you need to move the camera up.
BSP VIEWER / RAW EDITOR CONTROLS
A- Move to the left
S- Move back
D- Move to the right
E- Move in (forward)
X- Move Z axis up
Z- Move Z axis down
Right click w/ mouse- Turn camera
Left click w/ mouse on object- Select Object
Arrow keys- Move object when selected
Alt/shift/ctrl keys- Turn object different directions when selected
Page Up/Down- Move object up and down when selected
Now what you do is find the object you replaced (the collection item) and you should see your new object instead. Some objects, like water and fire cannot be selected and therefore, you must swap the ITMC tags AFTER you move the weapon you selected in the collection list. So saying that, im just going to leave the fire where it is for now. But remember, if you want to move something like water or fire someplace, then just skip step 5 for now and do it after you move your collection item to where you want it to be on the map.
If you're using something that can be moveable and selectable in the BSP Viewer, then move it whereever you want it to be, then hit
File -> Save Changes
11. You're done! Simply fix encryption with CMR or Encryptomatic Signature, FTP, and enjoy!
